Questions to ask before booking a wedding DJ
The DJ sets the pace for much of the wedding: the entrance, the drinks reception, the dinner and the party. These are the questions we recommend asking before you book, whether it's us or any other DJ.

Is the equipment their own, and do they set it up?
Ask whether the sound and lighting are their own or hired, and who sets them up. With their own equipment and their own crew, there are fewer surprises on the day.
If the venue already has a sound system, ask whether the DJ can work with it or will bring their own.
Which moments do they cover?
A wedding isn't just the party. Agree which moments the DJ will cover:
- Ceremony: microphones for the speeches and music for the entrance and exit.
- Drinks reception: background music at conversation level.
- Dinner: a relaxed atmosphere and the couple's entrance.
- First dance and party: dance floor, lighting and, if you like, effects.
How is the music prepared?
A good DJ will ask about your taste, the songs that can't be missed and the ones you never want to hear. Ask when that meeting happens and whether you can send a list.
How many hours are included, and what if the party runs late?
Ask how many hours the quote includes and whether the set can be extended on the night. That way there are no surprises when the party is at its best.
What extras can they add?
Low fog for the first dance, confetti, dance-floor lighting, microphones for the speeches or an LED screen for photos and videos. Ask what they offer and what each extra costs.
Are travel and set-up included?
Especially if the wedding is at a country estate or far from the city, make sure the quote already includes transport and set-up, and ask what time they'll arrive so everything is ready before the guests do.
Is your date still free?
Weddings from June to September book up months in advance. If the DJ has a public calendar, check it before asking for a quote.
